26 December 2015. “Blessings and Personal” – JLD. Praise G-d; it has been a blessed, and prosperous year for Messiah Echad! And as we look toward 2016, we pray more are led to tithe (https://messiahechad.org/tithes/), enjoy the e-newsletter, (http://eepurl.com/8SGQ5), and join us in fellowship (https://messiahechad.org/contact/). In the service, Kevin summarized parsha Vayechi, And He Lived, from Genesis 47:28 – 50:26. It was about blessings over the tribes, of which most were favorable, except maybe that of Dan, the serpent, or Benjamin, the ravenous wolf. Next, we paused for praise reports, to include blessings despite tornados, and prayer, which we requested over our families. Lastly, we heard from Pastors Harry and Duane about the journeys that led them to Messiah Echad. Enjoy your new year.

19 December 2015. “Faith and Women” – JLD. One of our newer and previously ordained members, Pastor Joseph, took the torah portion Vayigash, He Approached, from Genesis 44:18 – 47:27. This was a spirit filled delivery about faith, obedience, and word with prayer. A few cross-referenced verses were Hebrews 11:1-6, Hanukkah 2:4, Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38, Romans 10:17, John 1:1, Ezekiel 37:15-28, Acts 7:9-10, 1 Corinthians 6:19, and John 14:6. In the main message, after a brief introduction from Rabbi Jonathan, our Rebbetzin or First Lady, Melinda, covered some practical truths to being a biblical “help meet”. After all, women are created to be special gifts to their men, so let them smile, have a good attitude, and be the person our men turn to, when they need something.

12 December 2015. “Hungered and Lights” – JLD. Our Rebbetzin (Melinda) talked to the children about Miketz, At The End Of, from Genesis 41:1-44:17. This was on Pharaoh dreaming about a famine, God giving spiritual gifts to Joseph, Benjamin being loved, and Joseph wanting to observe his brother’s behaviors. Fun. Next, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on the lampstand (Exodus 25:) and lighting (Exodus 27:) commandments, where the Chanukah story begins. Granted, the Babylonians destroyed the temple, God’s People won back our religious freedoms, and continue to do so today. Police Chief Wayne Nero prayed with us during Chanukah, Mayor Dale Ross proclaimed 11 December 2015 as Messiah Echad Day, and Governor Gregg Abbot sent us a special greeting. Now on to the fight from the rear; persecution from Jews and Christians Brethren.

09 December 2015. “Partnering Together” – JLD. Special thanks to Pastor Kelly and Pastor David of The Worship Place Church, for inviting Rabbi Jonathan of Messiah Echad, to speak at their Wednesday Power Lunch. And how beautiful it is when fellow believers in Messiah can unite together as prayed about in John 17:21, showing the world we are Echad (one), just as He is Echad. The key take away is listening to that still small voice, where we are encouraged to follow God’s will, so that amazing things come to pass. For Messiah Echad, our calling is living out Galatians 3:26-29, “Where Christian, Jewish, and Non-Religious Believers find Echad (Oneness)”. Looking forward to what God has ordained in this partnership… Chanukah Semeach and Happy Holidays!

05 December 2015. “Chanukah and Prayer” – JLD. Rabbi Jonathan spoke on Vayeshev, And he settled, Genesis 37:1 – 40:23, where we read Joseph being thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, then put in jail, all for being favored. And as we too receive persecution for being special, Rabbi encouraged the children by reading Clifford Celebrates Hanukkah. That being said, being called apart also has perks; we have Chief Wayne Nero – Georgetown PD, Pastor Charley Turner – River Rock Bible, Reverend Megan Danner – Southwestern University, Rabbi David Hall – Zion Congregation, Steve Hoelscher – T’Shuva Congregation, and Mayor Dale Ross of Georgetown, assisting in our 2nd Annual Georgetown Chanukah Lighting! Finally, Pastor-Elect Duane presented a passionate message on getting biblical values and prayer back in our nation.

28 November 2015. “Royal Family and Abuse” – JLD. On this Thanksgiving weekend, we were pleased to have Hank cover Vayishlach, And He Sent, from Genesis 32:4-36:43. All families, to include the royal one in scripture, have colorful pasts, so we should never feel condemned. Instead we believe in the Word, trust our past inheritance, and embrace the future blessings. In the main message, Rabbi Jonathan covered how believers are often misused or abused. Three practical truths to protect us are (1) properly assess or name our situations, (2) quantify then allocate our resources, then (3) say yes, or no. Catch you next week for Shabbat, where Rabbi will read to the children about Chanukah, then our first lighting will be Sunday 06 December 2015, at 05pm.

21 November 2015. “Surrounded and History” – JLD. We were very blessed to have Daniel cover Vayetze, And He Went Out, Genesis 28:10 – 32:3. Often times, we are promised things that are contrary to what we want, but The Creator knows what we need, and He is always in control. From this parsha, we see that no matter where we are in life, God is surrounding us, in the beginning and at the end. We can rest in His Shalom. Amen. In the main drash, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on how our days would be, if we all listened to God, as R. Jonathan did before planting our beloved congregation. The history of Messiah Echad was meager but the current state of our congregation is vibrant, as we are blessed immensely from promoting a culture of one new man in Messiah (Galatians 3:26-29 – 26).

14 November 2015. “His Will and Free Will” – JLD. During his first torah portion presented at Messiah Echad, Alex spoke on Toledot or Generations, Genesis 25:19 – 28:9. The thing is, many of us receive favor and disfavor in life, which is like a predestined purpose from God. Yet we have the free will to embrace or respect His good will in our lives, while concurrently working to change any ill outcomes that are upon us. Sure gives a unique perspective on Jacob and Rachael tricking Isaac. Then in the main message, Pastor Jonathan further expounded on predestination or things we are given, versus free will or things that are earned… which one rules our world? The assertion is both, at times, and the imagery was likened to a large wave of God’s Power.

07 November 2015. “Life and His Star” – JLD. As we welcomed back Rabbi Jonathan from the Messianic Leadership Roundtable, with Jewish Voice Ministries International, it was a joy to hear him summarize Chayaei Sarah or Life of Sarah, Genesis 23:1-25:18. The three main point were (1) giving people what is owed, especially to believers, (2) trust then maybe test, God’s will in your life, and (3) never force or coerce people, even if it is to effect God’s will. Then in the main message, Messiah Echad welcomed a dear friend of our Rabbi, Reverend John Crouch, from Maryland, who taught on “His Star”, the actual birthday of Messiah. And spoiler alert… the message starts at minute 20, which leads up to minute 93, when we learned Christ was born during the fall feasts.

31 October 2015. “HaShem and Halloween” – JLD. Our very own Daniel, a Co-Leader of Chavurah B’samim (Small Group of 20s and 30s Folks), did a great job presenting Vayeira, And He Appeared, from Genesis 18:1 – 22:24. We focused on the importance of Fellowship With HaShem, a God with a name that is above all names, yet even He was not too good to personally speak with us, as we do with each other. Beautiful. Then in the main drash, Rabbi Jonathan taught on the Theology of Yahweh (God), then told us three concepts from Jeremiah 16:19-21… grouping people into His Group or The World, abstaining from idols or lies, and remembering that we are set apart to glorify His Name. Now go be a light, and see you next week, as we speak on Messiah’s real birth date.

24 October 2015. “Challenges and Callings” – JLD. Our Rebbetzin sure chose the perfect weekend to be away at a wedding… Florida had beautiful weather while Central Texas received a constant downpour, but with our rain, Adonai also showered us in His Spirit. Pastor Duane covered the parsha, Lech Lecha, Go Forth Yourself, Genesis 12:1 – 17:27, which was about getting out of our comfort zones, and doing whatever it is, G-d called us to do. Amen! Then in the main message, Pastor Harry expounded upon the torah portion, by further speaking about the three families G-d chose to bring His covenant to the world; folks with no particular power, position, wealth, fame, or superiority… they just trusted His call, in their life. Amen again! No uploaded slides for this week but catch the audio recording , then tune in next week, as we discuss how believers should approach Halloween. Scary!

17 October 2015. “Choices and Commandments” – JLD. Brother Hank covered Noach or Noah, Genesis 6:9 – 11:32, which started with God preserving our ability to choose right or wrong, by saving even the unclean animals. But Noah found himself choosing wrong (drunkenness)… bad Noah, and Japheth, for not covering his father. In the sermon, P. Jonathan mentioned his mid-week teaching at New Hope First Baptist then proceeded with our message on John 14:15. To love Messiah, we need to (1) know the commandments, (2) connect to them, and (3) act on them. The slides are uploaded and the audio recording is online. And for anyone who missed our praise / worship team formation meeting, after listening to the discussion, contact us office@messiahechad.org!

14 October 2015. “New Hope and Judaism” – JLD. Rabbi Jonathan was a special guest speaker to New Hope First Baptist Church, covering the precepts of Judaism with the Youth Group, and also the parents who decided to attend. The convocation began with some lively praise and worship, then preceded with prayer (just like at Messiah Echad). We spoke a little about the framework of Messianic Judaism, then moved on to defining what it means to be Jewish… the Children of Israel, who are decedents of a guy formerly named Jacob, comprise the group we commonly term Jews. That in mind, Jew does not appear in the Old Testament, and even in the New Covenant, gentile believers can and are grafted in, culturally speaking.

10 October 2015. “Beginning and New” – JLD. As the Eight Day of Sukkot has passed (Shemini Atzeret), we rejoice in the continuation of His word (Simchat Torah), and cycle our readings back to Bereshit, In The Beginning, Genesis 1:1 – 6:8. Pastor Harry summarized this power packed parsha, which covered the creation of our world, animals, and mankind, who sinned once, then again, ending with the story of Noah. Then in the main drash, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on the struggles even Yeshua HaMashiach had with people, because they did not recognize His calling, and that He had been born anew, for a purpose. What He did was hold fast in doing what He could, maintained a good outlook, and eventually moved on in ministry.

03 October 2015. “Blessed and Refuge” – JLD. After another taste of live praise and worship, to include a guitar bridge into the torah portion, Pastor Jonathan continued with V-Zot Ha-Berachah, And This Is The Blessing, Deuteronomy 33:1 – 34:12. One year ago, P. Jonathan covered this parsha, with the help of Bronwynn… fond memories of the lives we touch, and how we are continually blessed. The key points this year were embracing things over our lives, allowing the Ruach (Spirit) to transform us from the inside, and being mindful of those powers (and distractions) around us. And in the sermon, Pastor Elect Duane, who just entered his 3 month confirmation period, taught on the Cities of Refuge, which are now the people, not a place.

26 September 2015. “Eagles and Camping” – JLD – Bill finished his third of three torah portions, Haazinu, Give Ear, Deuteronomy 32:1-52. The major themes in this portion were (1) the scriptures are living waters, (2) our heavenly Father protects us under His wings, and (3) atonement is vital. And not only was Bill’s drash a relevant exegesis of the section, it so beautifully connected the High Holy Day Themes. In the main message, Rabbi Jonathan showed us how The Feast of Tabernacles helps His children to remember that He brought us from Egypt, during this special time of year… Sukkot causes us to leave our comfort zones or move our cheese. Two key cross-references were I Corinthians 9:19-22a (flex to win souls) and Psalms 84:5 (life is a journey).

22 September 2015. “Yom Kippur and Atonement” – JLD. On this most Holy Day of Yom Kippur, we read from Leviticus 23:26-32 and spoke about the importance of afflicting our souls. In most Synagogues, this is done through a drink, food, and martial relations fast, for 25 hours, as the body is able, and spirit willing. This fast is done while we also abstain from work, and for those who believe the commandments may not apply in their life, since some people feel we live in a different administration, we invite you to re-read Leviticus 23:31, then consider how God likely defines forever. After some liturgy and responsive reading, we entered into a repent time of admitting the sins we wanted to be burned away, then the congregation proclaimed “Al Chet!”.

19 September 2015. “Conquering and Fruits” – JLD. Leading up to Yom Kippur (Tuesday 22 September at 07pm http://messiahechad.org/events/#HHD), we were pleased to have Bill summarize Vayelech, And He Went, Deuteronomy 31:1 – 31:30. The encouragement is a call to (a) conquer what He gives us, (b) study His word, daily and cyclically, and (c) be attentive to the reality that rebellion happens. Amen. Then, Rabbi Jonathan continued preparing the congregation for the High Holy Days by speaking on what YHVH asks us to do, directly after the Day of Atonement… enjoy Sukkot. We will camp in temporary dwellings or booths, gather fruit, to include the Fruits of the Ruach (Spirit), and make daily offerings; leading up to Yom Kippur, are you, and your fruit, ready?

12 September 2015. “Standing and Reflecting” – JLD. We were blessed to have Bill cover Nitzavim “You Are Standing”, Deuteronomy 29:9 – 30:20. It starts with setting life or death before each person, and challenging folks to choose life, by following the scriptures. The audience is everyone, the object is entering a covenant relationship, and blessings follow when we obey His Laws, vice our own desires. And Rabbi Jonathan followed in that spirit of obedience, by preparing the congregation for Yom Teruah, also known as Rosh Hashanah… one of four biblical new years. As YHVH (God) get reflective about the creation of man, let us gather together, release our burdens, shout to the heavens, and make offerings. See you today at Tashlich (aka Rosh Hashanah or Yom Teruah) and La Shana Tova!

05 September 2015. “Giving and Mountains” – JLD. As more and more people join Messiah Echad, we have been so blessed with a membership that serves, prays, gives, and contributes! For those who are called to give in the form of music, be sure attend our first Worship Team Practice, on 17 October 2015, at 05:30pm. Our parsha this past week, Ki Tavo “When you enter in”, Deuteronomy 26:1 – 29:8, spoke about giving, and this was a focus point for Pastor Harry. Then after some awesome praise reports, and a reflective prayer time, Jonathan Dade spoke on loving our neighbor. How beautiful it is when we are on the mountaintops, experiencing the Glory of The Lord, but we are also called to walk back down the mountain, often, to reach and love our neighbors.

29 August 2015 .“Poo and Discipline” – JLD. Our Rebbetzin, Melinda, delivered an interactive and lively drash to the children, from Ki Teitzei “When you go out”, Deuteronomy 21:10 – 25:19. The section made us thankful that G-d has given us instructions to help those in need, return lost animals, keep our camps sanitary, and stand behind the things we say. Then in the main message, Rabbi Jonathan detailed on how our Heavenly Father requires that we love mercy (ref. Micah 6:1-8). So in that light, we studied II Thessalonians 2:7-9 (restraint vs lawlessness), Proverbs 13:24 (a loving parent punishes), James 1:23 (be doers, not just hearers), and John 13:35 (have love or mercy). Granted, God does punish folks… we should just not wish it to happen.

22 August 2015. “Judges and Vortices” – JLD. Rabbi Jonathan delivered the drash to our children, on Shoftim or Judges, Deuteronomy 16:18 – 21:9. The idea; there is no partiality with the scriptures, we should heed pastoral counsel, tithes are to be given, false prophets are not of God, accidental manslaughter can be forgiven, and lying is bad. Then in the sermon, Pastor Glen from River In The Hills Church, spoke on dwelling with the Holy Spirit, in light of the upcoming Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). And there was also the prophetic message Pastor Glenn delivered… “I see a vortex over this house, that is going to make people in your sphere of influence to decide, are they for Jesus in His Jewishness, or are they against Yeshua in His Jewishness.” Amein!

15 August 2015. “See and Demonstrate” – JLD. Messiah Echad is positively being known by our fruit, and every service is a beautiful testament to the benefits of doing His will. During our parsha, Re’eh “See!” from Deuteronomy 11:26 – 16:17, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on the various calendars people leverage to read the scriptures. But no matter the method(s), it is ultimately about studying, then doing, if we want the blessings… alternatively we can chose the curse, from living lawlessly. Personally, I will chose blessings, and dwelling in His house! Then in the message, R. Jonathan explored loving God better, as we aim to do, per our Mission and Vision. And next week, please remember to plan around that 5min detour on County Road 245, if you use the South Entrance.

08 August 2015. “Shema and The Sabbath” – JLD. It was such a blessing to hear prophetic words during our praise and worship set… hearing the Ruach (Spirit) move in our sanctuary, brings such joy to our hearts. Thank you Daniel. Then iun the torah portion, Joseph Bailey spoke on Eikev, “As a result”, from Deuteronomy 7:12-11:25. There was a lot of scriptural re-cap, followed by an admonition to Shema or Listen. And especially relevant if one believes that dark powers will (once again) become manifested in our world, whether via aliens, extraterrestrials, fallen angels, giant beings, or unidentified flying objects (UFOs), NOW is the time to hear or listen to His Commandments. Finally, to demonstrate how simple it is be the elect and follow His Word, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on the Shabbat, giving anyone who listens, a place to start.

01 August 2015. “Pleading and Wisdom” – JLD. After some amazing praise and worship, Pastor Harry summarized Va’etchanan, And I Pleaded, from Deuteronomy 3:23-7:11. Although Moses was not permitted to enter the promised landed, and repeatedly pleaded with God for re-consideration, Yahweh (God) did not change His decision. This parsha also contained several cornerstone passages to include the Shema, V’ahavta, and Ten Commandments… all of which are vital in the Jewish Service. Then in the main message, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on making wise choices, inspired by King Solomon from I Kings 3:1-22, and Yeshua (Jesus) from John 8:1-6. Often times, we are called to act, learn, and then act again, while also addressing the hidden questions or covering the deeper impactions, to any problem we face. See you next Shabbat!

25 July 2015. “Giants and Health” – JLD. The torah portion, Devarim, Deuteronomy 1:1 – 3:22, was mostly a retelling of previous words, however in the drash delivered by Rabbi Jonathan, we dove deep into the rephaim (giants). We know the nephalim came from the daughters of men (Genesis 6:4-5), but after the flood, only their decedents (the repahim) remained, and they sure sought to defeat the Children of Israel. But no matter what giants we face, whether spiritual, physical, financial, or emotional, nothing can prevail over us whilst The Lord God Himself (Deuteronomy 3:22), fights with us. And to further assist in overcoming those giants, specifically of the health related variety, we had two special guests share a few words with us. Now go defeat some giants, take charge of your health, and join us next Shabbat!

18 July 2015. “Refuge and Genuine” – JLD. So because this was not a leap year, Duane covered Matot (Tribes) and Masei (Journeys Of), Deuteronomy 30:2 – 36:13. It was a great summary… no self-help book compares to the bible, we need to be in the congregation of the righteous, and we should want God (YHVH), to be the Commander of our lives. And do not get us started on that city of refuge reference, as that will positively be scheduled for main message soon! After the parsha, Pastor Jonathan covered how we can be more genuine, and service minded. Romans 12:9-21 spoke on things that demonstrate real love for one another, and Deuteronomy 12:5-14 mentioned many ways to give, showing us it is about more than just a ten percent tithe. See you next week for monthly oneg… prayerfully with a guest, and a biblically kosher dish to pass.

11 July 2015. “Changing and Rulings” – JLD. We enjoyed an amazing Shabbat, with warm fellowship, powerful worship, and insightful teachings. Duane delivered a drash on Pinchas “Dark Skinned”, Numbers 25:10 – 30:1… women received inheritances, leaders misrepresented God, and Moses attempted to change the mind of Adonai. The key take away was our realizing that we actually have the ability to change the mind of God. Then in the main message, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on how we as believers, should view our recent Supreme Court ruling, where gay marriage was legalized on the federal level, in the United States. We started in I Corinthians 6:9-10, where we find an indirect reference on the morality of homosexuality, then we explored three principles to help us defend our biblical position. Now share this news!

04 July 2015. “Angels and Chemistry” – JLD. Enjoying the Shabbat on Independence Day, July 4th here in the United States, was both joyous and freeing. Our torah portion, Balak from Numbers 22:2 – 25:9, was presented by Rabbi Jonathan Dade, and we focused on a guy named Balaam. Even a regular man, who was not part of God’s Chosen people (Israel), demonstrated a desire to be free from self seeking desires, and was subsequently blessed with the gift of prophesy. Things are always better when we listen to His Messengers or Malakim (Angels). Then in the main message, Bill spoke on Making The Most of Your Time; Better Kingdom Living Through Scriptural Chemistry. We identified how the right ingredients, catalysts, and buffers, can bring about heavenly products.

27 June 2015. “Red Heifer and Unity” – JLD. Joseph Bailey Lewis blessed us with another insightful torah portion summary, this time on Chukat “Ordinance of”, from Numbers 19:1 – 22:1. Specifically, the red heifer sacrifice was unique in that it was done outside the camp, and was used to cleanse the person, not the place. Similarly, Messiah was sent away to die, giving us (people) everlasting life, and sanctification. Then before the teaching, Rabbi Jonathan briefly acknowledged the elephant in the room, the recent Supreme Court ruling which supports same-sex marriage, before diving into his message on Jewish and Christian believers being part of one body. It was such an amazing reality, how we are all fellow heirs. See you next week, and again at our local 04th of July Celebration.

20 June 2015. “Rebellion and Doubting” – JLD. After getting closer to our Creator in the worship, Bill transitioned us to studying Korah, from Numbers 16:1 – 18:32. We saw how even distant cousins and assistants to the priests, can still fall victim to jealousy and rebellion… things did not work out well for Korah, nor the others who complained. Oh the consequences of rebelling against our leaders, and God. In the message, Pastor Jonathan continued with discussing physical weapons, which he was prophetically inspired to speak on last week. And even in the midst of spiritual warfare, we should not fear what evil seeks to do, nor should we doubt the Power of God. It only takes a moment of our attention being off Him, before it is placed on modern day idols, such as celebrities or rules. See the slides, listen to the recording, and join us next Saturday for monthly oneg.

13 June 2015. “Spies and Open Carry” – JLD. We had an Elder, Pastor Harry, summarize Shlach, Send for yourself, from Numbers 13:1-15:41. Twelve spies went into the Promised Land (Canaan) but only two returned to affirm the land could be claimed. And even today, do we not refuse what He sets aside for us, and does it still not upset Him? In the message, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on the recent approval of open carry in Texas, and how Messianic Believers should view this bill. After all, II Peter 1:3 says all questions on life an godliness are answered in the scriptures, and Mathew 10:16 further wants us to be prepared or wise. So, we studied how psychological warfare (Numbers 13:33), putting away criminals (Deuteronomy 19:3), and the world getting worse (II Timothy 3:13), might point us to support the (open) arming of citizens. Interesting….

06 June 2015. “Ministers and Gideons” – JLD. Continuing in the light of neither a jot nor a tittle passing from the scriptures, Rabbi Jonathan covered Behaalotecha, “In your making go up”, Numbers 8:1-12:16. In the scriptures, Levites (Ministers) are instructed to (a) cleanse before service, (b) only work from 25-50years of age, (c) encourage the unclean to fellowship, (d) heed His call in your life, (e) blow trumpets, (f) value elders, and (g) not give place to fault finders. Then in the main message, Royce Lindsey from the Gideons International, spoke on scripture evangelism. He started in Psalms 119, exploring how God’s Word is a light unto our path, and it is a light that we should purposely set in the path of others. So we encourage you to share the slides, and audio recording… and if any members desire to serve further, by joining the Gideon’s, please let your small group leader know.

30 May 2015. “Elevate and Old Fashioned” – JLD. Despite the torrential rain we received here in Texas (please see Dee , or donate to our benevolence fund, to help with local relief), God gave us beautiful weather on the Shabbat, and a safe place to study His Word. We started by having Bill summarize Naso or Elevate, from Numbers 4:21 – 7:89. There was a timeline surrounding this torah portion, as well as a specific listing of the tribes, to include each leader. All slides and graphics are online. Then in the sermon, assisted by Scheeli and Bronwynn (we will miss you!), Pastor Jonathan leveraged Daniel 4:33, to explain the word fulfill from Mathew 5:17. From reading the whole bible, we know Messiah did not abolish, but rather expressed or lived the commandments. The audio recording is online and safe travels Collins Family!

23 May 2015. “Tribes and Shavuot” – For Parsha Bamidbar, In The Wilderness, Rabbi Jonathan brought the children up to summarize Numbers 1:1 – 4:20. We made five points; (a) the census was of males over twenty years of age, (b) the total count was 603,550, (c) the Tribe of Dan camped on the north side, (d) the Tribe of Levites were priests, and (e) the sons of Kohath carried temple items. Then in the message, we discussed Shavuot, as commanded in Deuteronomy 16:9-12, and as was the time when Moses received the torah (Exodus 19:). Even more awesome is how Messiah was our First Fruits (I Corinthians 15:20-21), which led to us receiving the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4), also on Shavuot! And despite the law written in our hearts (Hebrew 8:6-10), we are not to (negatively) judge those who freely observe (Colossians 2:16-17).

16 May 2015. “Redemption and Pentecost” – JLD. After re-capping our emulation love of John 14:15, desire to understand His Word from I Peter 1:25, and spiritual rebirth in Deuteronomy 30:20, Rabbi Jonathan closed Vayikra (Leviticus), with “On The Mount” and “In My Statutes”. The key is Leviticus 25:23-24… from the Shemitah, up to the Year of Jubilee, it is about us freely redeeming back, what was never ours. In the main message, our special guest, spoke on the background of Shavuot (Pentecost), the Jewish traditions surrounding this festival, and the Shavuot in Acts 2:1-4, where the Ruach (Spirit) wrote the commandments into our hearts. Then as the story unfolds with Christian and Jews, being children of promise together, oh how great it is to be blessed equally. See you for Shavuot Shabbat!

09 May 2015. “Saying and Emulation” – JLD. This past Thursday, Rabbi Jonathan was honored to pray at the Georgetown National Day of Prayer, and Messiah Echad made front-page news with the Williamson County Sun! Oh how The Spirit works… to include how He prophetically worked in Duane for the torah portion summary of Emor “Say” from Leviticus 21:1 – 24:23, during our Shabbat Service. A key take away is how we are all called to be priests, as cross-referenced in Galatians 3:26-29. Lastly, Rabbi Jonathan covered our fifth statement of faith; being born again to everlasting life (Deuteronomy 30:20), understanding the Living Word (I Peter 1:25), and demonstrating our love for Him (John 14:15). The audio recording is online and please make sure to tell that special someone, Happy Mothers Day. The love our moms have shown us, is truly reminiscent of that which He shows us!

02 May 2015. “Leviticus and Baltimore – JLD.” Messiah Echad was pleased to hear from Joseph Bailey Lewis, during his debut torah portions, Acharei Mot – After the death Leviticus 16:1 – 18:30, and Kedoshim – Holy ones Leviticus 19:1 – 20:27. He did an amazing job summarizing the double parsha and if you missed any of the verses he referenced, his slides are online. Then in the main message, Rabbi Jonathan covered current events; notably the riots surrounding Freddie Grey’s passing, and how we should view things as believers. After all, we are called to be wise as serpents yet harmless as doves (Mathew 10:16), from which knowledge in the scriptures (Proverbs 29:18, Hosea 4:6), is our heavenly direction. Enjoy the audio recording and practice viewing world events, through His Eyes.

25 April 2015. “Tabernacle and Babel – JLD.” As we welcomed back Rabbi Jonathan from cycling 500 miles with over 200 veterans in the United Healthcare, Ride 2 Recovery Texas Challenge (see his email updates), we summarized Tazria “She bears seed”, Leviticus 12:1 – 13:59, and Metzora “Infected one”, Leviticus 14:1 – 15:33. For us, this was about cleanliness in the mishkan or tabernacle, which we aim to have in our place of worship. So whether a co-tenanted building or our own sanctuary, we encourage you to take personal ownership in keeping it clean. In the main message, Rabbi Jonathan covered the Tower of Babel from Genesis 11:1-9, where man fell victim to pride, and wanted to build a tower for themselves, without God. So enjoy the audio recording, and help us ensure our congregation is rooted in Messiah, where we can rightly be a unified Echad.

18 April 2015. “Eighth and Gideon” – JLD. After Passover, we restarted our torah portions with Shmini or Eighth, from Leviticus 9:1 – 11:47. We saw how the temple offerings (sin, burnt, peace, grain, wave) helped invoke the Glory of the Lord, and even modern day believers, should live in the spirit of offerings. Alternatively, we can be like Nadab and Abihu, making profane sacrifices or disobeying the instructions we receive… but that would be ill advised. In the sermon, Bill presented on Gideon, from Judges 6-8. The way Yahweh (God), used 300 men to defeat an army of over 100,000, using only torches and shofars, was truly amazing. Bill even connected the torch and shofar, to our ministry at Messiah Echad. Lastly, be sure to pray for Rabbi Jonathan, while he cycles from Houston to Fort Worth this week.

11 April 2015. “Old Testament Grace” – JLD. As the Lord has been working prophetically with Rabbi Jonathan, finding laws in the New Covenant and grace in the Old, we explored the later, in as early as the torah. In Genesis 6:8, God had become increasingly disappointed in the evil of man, yet He extended grace to his servant Noah. Are we not also commanded in Deuteronomy 22:4, to do so when our brother or his livestock, has fallen? Genesis 18:22 offers yet another perspective, where Yahweh intended to destroy a city, but man negotiated with Him, and effected grace. If the Almighty can hear people out, should not we do the same? Finally, in Exodus 4:10, Moses told Adonai that he was not eloquent in speech (able), yet grace and trust was extended, as Moses later became the spokesman for God’s Chosen People (Israel). The audio recording is online; now go extend some Old Testament Grace!

04 April 2015. “Resurrection Saturday” – JLD. Just as our Messiah began the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Matthew 26:17), we observed the Passover Seder of Exodus 12. Our lamb was grilled, the herbs were spicy, and we decreased by removing leaven, so that He could increase. We even shared this richness with churches and sojourners, who were Jewish in their spirits, and Circumcised in their hearts (Romans 12:28-29). And speaking of outreach, how many know that although we died spiritually (Genesis 2:17), the ultimate sacrifice gave His life on a Wednesday Passover Sabbath (John 19:31), remained dead for 72 hours (Mathew 12:40), then arose Saturday at Sunset, before the first day (John 20:1)? This resurrection news (and calendar) is everlasting life, unlike talk of chocolate eggs, which some believe are laid by rabbits. Enjoy the message and see you on 11 April at 03pm, for Mahoney-Hilario-Dade, Live in Praise.

28 March 2015. “Asked and Passover” – JLD. In working past those jitters, Ofelia took on the torah portion Tzav, Command, from Leviticus 6:1 – 8:36… and she summarized the section very well. This parsha was about temple sacrifices, but Ofelia keenly discovered how it points forward to the ultimate sacrifice found in Hebrews 10:1-18, our Messiah. Then in the main message, our newly ordained Pastor Harry, discussed the original Passover in Egypt, followed by Rabbi Jonathan who explained the New Covenant connection. Especially since we seek to live like Messiah, we should ensure our physical actions mirror the spiritual closeness we have with Him (I John 2:3-6). And since He (Jesus) kept the Passover Seder (Mathew 26:17,19), while conducting His seder in the city, we too should focus on witnessing to “strangers” who are “like us”, in heart or spirit. Enjoy the recording, and see you for seder!

21 March 2015. “Accuracy and Cleansing” – JLD. It was a joy having Bill summarize Vayikra, And he called, from Leviticus 1:1 – 5:26. Although many purpose to do well, we occasionally sin and mess up. So to miss or sin less, we need to get closer to His Word, and see things through His Eyes, as an archer does with a target and sight. Then in the main message, we discussed membership and our third statement of faith, the Holy Spirit. Some of us enjoy the Spirit in softer manners like water immersion, while others desire the Spirit to work more energetically, as in Gifts of the Spirit. The point is to accept the cleansing power of the Spirit, and embrace the range in which He works. Our spring mikvah (baptism) was rescheduled to Tuesday 24 March at 06:30pm.

14 March 2015. “Tabernacle and Preparation” – JLD. Bill closed Exodus with Vayakhel (And he assembled), and Pekudei (Accountings of), Exodus 35:1 – 40:38. Several items were used to make the physical Mishkan (Tabernacle), but have you considered the Sabbath, Believers or Prayer, also as Mishkan? And in the message, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on Emergencies; both studying for them (II Timothy 2:15), and being prepared (Ezekiel 38:7). After all, the enemy is out to do evil (John 10:10) but even in Dystopia (Genesis 19:9-11), we can be victorious, together. Especially when we are wise yet harmless (Mathew 10:16), Security Threats are nothing to fear. So how will you, your family, and congregation, respond when facing Emergencies, Dystopia or Security Threats? Granted, we did not include our plans in the audio recording, but we do invite you to consider yours… and join us for the Spring Mikvah, Saturday 21 March at 06:30pm.

07 March 2015. “Temple Tax and Israel” – JLD. After enjoying Purim, it is time to get back into the scriptures, which we did with Ki Tisa or When You Take, from Exodus 30:11 – 34:35. Chris highlighted the temple tax imposed on all men, the people making and worshipping a golden calf, then Moses returning to renew the commandments with the Children of Israel. Then in the message, Rabbi Jonathan spoke on the Land of Israel, our support for them being a sovereign nation, and how we should embrace the words of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Our friends and their decedents survived several diaspora periods, Fuhrer Adolph Hitler, and constant attacks on their 6,000 square miles… but that land is divinely theirs, as per Deuteronomy 1:6-8. So whether for outright Zionism or simply wanting Messiah to return (Matthew 23:39), enjoy the recording and actively support the peace of Jerusalem.

28 February 2015. “Questions and Haman” – JLD. With two bat-mitzvah aged members on the Hebrew, Rabbi Jonathan summarized Tetsaveh or You Shall Command, from Exodus 27:20 – 30:10. These commandments were written to certain people (of which many are grated in), meant to last (forever), designed to challenge (especially leaders), almost confusing (I thought blood was unclean) yet also encouraging, regarding the yearly (specific) atonement, though we believers are continually and forever atoned, by our risen Lord and Savior (Messiah). Then for Purim Shabbat, we loved how the Messiah Echad Children helped liven the service, along with Machowlah Dance Ministry, who did a play about Esther (aww) becoming Queen after Vashti (tisk-tisk) disrespected King Ahasuerus (bless him)…. then Mordecai (yay) was plotted against by Haman (boo).

21 February 2015. “Drawings and Jesus” – JLD. Nothing like torah time for our children, to round out another restful Shabbat. Crystal covered Terumah “Offering”, from Exodus 25:1 – 27:19. We learned how an offering is the first of our time or resources, which is obligated to God, and was used to build the ancient temple. Then in the main message, Rabbi Jonathan covered our second statement of faith; Belief in the Son of God, Born to Joseph and Mary of Nazareth, known as Yeshua (Jesus), or simply, Messiah. Although the manner in which each of us develops a relationship with Jesus is different, in being part of Messiah Echad, the most important thing is HAVING that relationship. We look forward to Monthly Oneg and Purim Shabbat next week, at 03pm! Invite some friends and maybe offer to drive with them… even if they don’t believe in Messiah.

14 February 2015. “Community and Fringes” – JLD. Messiah Echad was so blessed to have Bill present Mishpatim or Laws, from Exodus 21:1 – 24:18. The audience participation and props made for an amazing visual. In the main message, Rabbi Jonathan discussed tzi-tzit or those tassel looking fringes, which we Hebraic Believers wear on the corners of our garments, as commanded in Numbers 15:38. When sharing this instruction to others, be sure to speak gently, find the right audience, encourage the strings to be affixed to a corner, mention the blue thread for peace, then make sure the tzi-tzit enable the wearer to look, remember and do the scriptures. The Messiah Echad Tzi-Tzit will be available in March, for $20 +TSH, and orders can be placed at http://rlbechad.org/product/messiah-echad-tzi-tzit/. Boker Tov.

07 February 2015. “Minutes and Covenants” – JLD. Torah Portion Jethro from Exodus 18:1 – 20:23, ended with the giving of the 10 Commandments. Yet despite all the instructions on how to live, the Children of Israel continuously struggled to communicate directly with God. Did Moses really need to be involved in every matter and on every issue? No!. So, Jethro showed how we need to repair our relationships with God and appoint leadership helpers. Then in the main message, Pastor David continued with the seven covenants or administrations. The first was the Adamic, followed by the Noahide, Abrahamic, then Mosaic… and the covenants never died, rather they are still relevant to this day, in one way or another. Boker Tov.

31 January 2015. “Deliverance and God” – JLD. Continuing on with Beshalach, When He Let Go, from Exodus 13:17 – 17:16, Andronicus showed us where the Children of Israel struggled with their deliverance. God already acted on their pleas for help (Exodus 3:7-8) but when the Israelites were sifted and tried in the Egyptian’s pursuit, Israel questioned (vice claimed) their deliverance. Bad. Then in the main message, Rabbi Jonathan explored basic theology and our first statement of faith, believing in God. But is God part of a trinity or not (John 17:21, John 1:18)? Or how about having a sacred name, yes or no (Jeremiah 23:27, Exodus20:7)? Finally is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the same as the one others worship, or is He different (Deuteronomy 32:36-38, I Timothy 2:5)? Listen as we explore these questions and hear the answers from our youngest members.

24 January 2015. “Duality and Hearts” – JLD. Andronicus summarized the first seven plagues, then continued on with Bo or Enter, from Exodus 10:1 – 13:16. We saw how each of the plagues had duality, meaning there were deeper meanings, and we also explored how the plagues confronted “enemies of the cross” or those who (would) despise Messiah. Then in the sermon, Pastor Jonathan covered “Lehbabeh” or Heart, Strong Concordance 3824, from Deuteronomy 10:12. The essence of the law is not legalism, rather God wanting our hearts. Hearts follow God and scriptures whereas minds follow people and rules… Romans 10:9-10 (salvation), Colossians 3:23 (efforts) and II Corinthians 9:6-7 (giving), confirmed the importance of hearts. Lastly, remember that Ezekiel 36:26 says only God can change hearts. See you next week for monthly oneg!

17 January 2015. “Appeared and Hope” – JLD. Rabbi Jonathan covered Va’eira, “I Appeared”, from Exodus 6:2 – 9:35. Leading to this parsha, we read how Moses was spared as a baby, obtained status in Egypt, killed an Egyptian, fled to the wilderness and was called back to Egypt, to demand Pharaoh let the children of Israel go. And since Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, Yahweh (God) needed to “convince” Egypt, via the plagues. Then our guest, Pastor Glenn, spoke on hope (Romans 8:24-25, I Thessalonians 5:8). We have hope because God is good (Psalms 100:4-5, Psalms 27:13), His promises are true (II Corinthians 1:20, Acts 16:31) and there is a heaven (I Corinthians 15:19-20). And we build hope by staying in the word (Hebrews 11:1, Romans 10:17) and staying unoffended (Proverbs 4:23, Hosea 2:14-15, Romans 12:18, Mathew 5:24). And please, allow Yahweh to appear in your life and give you hope.

10 January 2015. “Smarter and Remembering” – JLD. After powerful praise and worship, Crystal brought forth Shemot or Names, from Exodus 1:1 – 6:1, in the style of “Are You Smarter Than Your Teacher?” This made the parsha so fun, and we pray that even the adults, got several questions correct. Then in the main message, Pastor Jonathan spoke on remembering, from the Hebrew word “zakar”, Strong’s Concordance 2142. Starting in Deuteronomy 8:1-2 & 6-7, we laid lay down the foundation of doing the commandments, before reading a hurtful editorial letter someone had written, about Messianic Jews. But in remembering John 15:18-21 (the world hated Him too), I Peter 4:12-13 (rejoice in trials), Deuteronomy 32:35 (let vengeance be of God), Romans 10:14-18 (stay strong in preaching)… we have committed to turning the other cheek and walking in love. And remember to be doers (James 1:23-25) of the scriptures!

03 January 2015. “Expectations and Visions” – JLD. In our first service of 2015, Bill reflected on how all the torah portions in Genesis point to this final story, like the facets of a diamond direct our attention to its resulting beauty. So in reviewing Vayechi, And He Lived, from Genesis 47:28 – 50:26, Bill focused on the final blessing given by Jacob, to his second born son, despite the expectation of the first born. Powerful. Then in the main message, Pastor Jonathan reflected on the benefits of having many members in their different seasons, and how to decipher our different visions or dreams. First, we must decide if it’s from God (Jerm. 23:16-17, Num. 23:19), second we must determine to whom it applies (Acts 19:9-28, II Cor.13:1), and third, we must handle conflicts according to biblical order (I Thes. 5:12, I Cor. 11:4, I Cor. 15:40).
